What's in Your Cabinet?

OMG you all, I KEEP forgetting to take my shea butter mix into the shower so it can defrost. Then, when I actually do remember, I don't even stay in the shower long enough for it to thaw out. As you all know, I use the shea butter mix as body cream and as a hair cream. Well, this morning was a struggle trying to put the non defrosted mix on as my lotion. So, this afternoon I decided to stop being lazy and start making my lotion the way I used to make it again. While I was at it, I decided to make some of Naptural85's homemade hair products. I will also list below other products I have in my cabinet for my body and hair. All recipes are below.

--------------- BODY ---------------
Body Cream:

8 oz Unrefined Shea Butter
1 stick CocoCare 100% Cocoa Butter
1 tsp Vitamin E
~ 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Get a mixer and whip it all together. If you do not like how it smells, add a few drops of your favorite body fragrance oil.

Body Cream

When I want to give my skin a boost or just feel like I went to the spa. I mix up my own body scrub.

Body Scrubs:

3 Tbsp Sugar
1 tsp Lemon Juice
1/4 cup Milk

OR

mix the following to get a scrub consistency:

Sugar
Aloe Vera Gel
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

--------------- HAIR ---------------

Thick and Fluffy Pomade:

8oz Unrefined Shea Butter
~ 1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
~ 1 tsp Olive Oil
~ 1 Tbsp Jojoba Oil
~ 1/2 tsp Vitamin E

Get a mixer and whip it all together.

You can use this to do twists, braids, or just smooth your hair down.

Fluffy Pomade

Creamy Moisturizing Cream:

Measurements aren't exact; you will have to eyeball this one until you get the creamy consistency.

Use Coconut Oil as your base
Put coconut oil in the microwave to melt it slightly

Add the following to the melted coconut oil:

1/2 tsp Castor Oil
1 tsp Olive Oil
1 tsp Jojoba Oil
1 dollop of Fluffy Pomade

Mix and let set.

This creme is used as an everyday cream.

I didn't make any of this today, but here is a pic of what I have so you can see the consistency.

Creamy Moisturizing Cream

Hair Cleanser:

1 part Apple Cider Vinegar
2 parts Water

Mix in a perm applicator bottle and then apply to hair like shampoo as shown in my Wash Day Video.

Curl Loosener:

1/2 cup Yogurt or Sour Cream
2 Tbsp Honey
1 Mashed Banana

Wash hair with Apple Cider Vinegar mix. Coat hair with this mixture. Put shower cap on and let it sit for 20 min. Rinse out thoroughly.

Other products in my cabinet are:

Glycerin mixed with Water

Aloe Vera Gel
I did buy a $2 box of flax seeds the other day. I may attempt to make the flax seed gel sooner or later, but for now I am sticking with the Aloe Vera Gel.  The Aloe Vera Gel works wonders #tabbytaughtme

I also want to try Terressentials hair wash as a conditioner.

What's in your cabinet???

  1. OMG. I love this post. I can't want for YOU to make me some. LOL. I can't. I TOLD YOU the Aloe works wonders!

My cabinet has a combination of splurge and cheap products that work my hair... I no longer use shampoo and, instead use VO5 Hair Milk as a shampoo/leave in. I use Cantu conditioner and leave-in... Let's see, O Carol's Daughter Hair Milk and Aloe Vera... The other products in there are just collecting dust because I KEEP these in heavy rotation! Thanks for sharing!
